Psychologoical Assessment and Formulation
Psychological Assessment
So that we can fully understand your current difficulties, it is important for us to complete a thorough psychological assessment. We offer two types of assessment, including standalone psychological assessment and formulation sessions for people who wish to develop a better understanding of their current difficulties, and assessments for individuals who are looking to start therapy with one of our psychologists.
Your psychologist will ask you a range of questions about your life, your support network, your childhood and what you are hoping to get from your assessment or therapy. Your psychologist will then combine this information into what we call a ‘formulation’, or a shared understanding. If you go on to have therapy, your psychologist will use the shared understanding to inform the most appropriate course of therapy. It is important to note that you may need several assessment sessions and couples and families will always require a minimum of two assessment sessions.

What to expect from a psychological assessment
Once you have contacted us, we aim to get back to you within 24 hours. We will arrange a date and time that is convenient for you and conduct your psychological assessment. Your psychologist will recommend a course of therapy and if you decide to go ahead, agree a start date. This is always your choice and we won’t be offended if you decide now isn’t the right time for therapy. We will do our best to be flexible and offer appointments to suit your life. All appointments take place online.
